VII Conference of the Fachverband Arabisch e.V. in cooperation with the Philipps University of Marburg, Center for Near and Middle Eastern Studies, November 6-7, 2026, Friday 3:00 PM to Saturday 6:00 PM

Teaching Arabic between creativity and standardization

The conference of the German Association for Arabic Language (Fachverband Arabisch e.V.) ​​offers a platform for intensive exchange among Arabic teachers from schools, universities, and adult education. This year`s conference explicitly encourages not only conventional presentations but also reports on experiences and best practices in a workshop format.

Focus creativity

• Creation of teaching materials, especially in the digital realm

• Creation and pedagogical adaptation of authentic materials

• Use of and interaction with AI

• Technical aspects and design in the creation of teaching materials

Focus standardization

• Development of curricula at the federal level

• CEFR and Arabic

• Certificates (demand / experience / development opportunities)

If you are interested in actively participating, we cordially invite you to submit an abstract (200 words) by May 31, 2026, for a 15-minute presentation or a 30-45 minute workshop, where the focus is on interaction with other participants. Presentations should preferably be in Arabic or English.

Please send your abstract, stating your name and the educational institution where you work, to fachverband.arabisch@gmail.com.

You will receive the final confirmation no later than mid-July 2026.

The conferences of the Fachverband Arabisch do no longer receive the same level of financial support as before. Therefore, we kindly ask participants to finance their travel and accommodation through their own institution, if possible. Members of the Fachverband Arabischh actively participating in the conference who are unable to do so may apply to the association for financial assistance.
